The Queen Victoria Building (QVB) in Sydney's CBD is excited to announce a magical lineup of musical events and festive activities to celebrate the holiday season. This year’s programming promises to capture the essence of Christmas, making the QVB a must-visit destination.
From November 16th to December 24th, the talented NCE Sydney Choir will bring this year’s music program to life with performances every Thursday at 5pm and on Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm, providing Sydneysiders with an uplifting experience filled with the sounds of the season.
The QVB’s celebrated Christmas tree has also been unveiled; a breathtaking 20-meter-tall Wollemi Pine-inspired Christmas tree, adorned with a significant First Nations artistic overlay. In collaboration with the Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative established in 1987 to promote Aboriginal artists – this year’s installation is a celebration of Australia’s rich cultural heritage.
As the largest indoor Christmas tree in NSW, the festive display towers majestically over three shopping levels. On the ground floor, visitors will be captivated by Dr. Bancroft’s interactive art installation, which immerses guests in a vibrant bush and rainforest experience. Accompanying the visuals are the enchanting sounds of endangered birds from "Songs of Disappearance" by The Bowerbird Collective. The tree is also beautifully adorned with 45 hand-painted flannel flowers by Jarratt and Samuels, visible from the upper levels.
On Level 2, guests can witness augmented reality experiences featuring Southern Royal Albatross-inspired decorations flying around the Christmas tree. Daily programmed light shows, paired with soundscapes from Nardi Simpson’s “Of Stars and Birds,” will take place at 9:30am, 11:30 am, 1:30pm, 3:30 pm, and 5:30pm.
