This event will be presented in both English and Polish to ensure language accessibility for all audiences.

Discover the international power of the written word and learn how to write based on the 1834 epic poem “Pan Tadeusz”. Although Adam Mickiewicz wrote in the 19th century, the same rules apply nowadays. Dr Gaja Kołodziej will explain how to develop fictional characters and design a story structure which is attractive to modern readers. No matter in what language (Polish, English or other) you write fiction, poetry, drama or nonfiction, the workshop will be an extraordinary opportunity to boost your craft and expand your literary horizons by drawing connections between languages, countries and centuries. Make your words matter! Find your unique voice and create a story that will enchant readers for generations.

Dr Gaja Kołodziej is a Polish novelist residing in New Zealand. She published ten novels in Young Adult, New Adult, women’s fiction and romance genres, available in paperback, ebook and audiobook. Gaja Kołodziej holds a doctoral degree in creative writing, and has been teaching fiction writing for over ten years. She is a member of the Polish Writers’ Association, the European Association of Creative Writing Programmes, and Romance Writers of New Zealand.

This event will be held in the Gallery Room of the Mitchell Library building.
