A children’s workshop focusing on clay made art and objects both ancient and modern. Participants get to be creative and make their own designs and their own clay-based object.

Join us over the winter school holidays for a chance to explore the world of clay and how potters work. Get up close to both ancient pottery and contemporary ceramic works in this guided workshop.

Participants will get to make their own piece made from polymer clay to take home and will also create their own designs in 2D that might be used to decorate a ceramic vessel. What would you make – a cup, a bowl, a plate or your own creative idea?

Everyone will be given a guided tour to explore the museum's collection of ceramics from the past four thousand years through to our exhibition of contemporary Australian ceramics called Kerameikos. You will also get to handle ancient clay objects from Greece, Rome and Egypt to feel the different ways clay has been used throughout human history.

We can’t wait to see your creations!

Materials supplied.

The workshop is ideally for children aged 6-12. Parents and carers are required to stay with children.
