Pictures at an Exhibition

Promenade around an imaginary art gallery with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and physical communicator Andy Dexterity

Modest Mussorgsky liked his friend Viktor Hartmann’s drawings and paintings so much that he created a musical exhibition of them. We wander around the gallery, stopping at each one. There’s a sinister gnome, an old castle, a witch’s hut on chicken legs and more. Mussorgsky’s pictures are for the mind’s eye, but Andy Dexterity will create pictures with movement inspired by the music.

Andy Dexterity is a performance maker who mixes dance, physical theatre and signed languages into an expressive form of communication. He creates an imaginary art gallery as the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and dynamic conductor Benjamin Northey perform this much-loved orchestral classic.

Join us for our free Kids Activity Zone in the Sydney Opera House Northern Foyer an hour before and after the performance – where technology, music and play come together!

Suitable for children aged 5+ and their families.
