Multidisciplinary artist Rita Orsini presents a major solo exhibition, including the unveiling of a captivating immersive installation of art, light and sound.
“Inspired by the fascinating intricacies and patterns of tree barks, I painted my illuminated canvases and sought to recreate – in the semi-darkness of an old gaol’s cell – the immersive experience of standing before a majestic tree, surrounded by sounds that evoke cherished landscapes and memories".
This exhibition, extending over the 5 spaces of the gallery, includes the breadth of her art practice. It will be held at the Watch House in Balmain on the weekends of 13-14 and 20-21 July (10am to 5pm).
In conjunction with the exhibition, Orsini has curated a public program, free and open to all, of poetry-reading in English and in French on 14 July (2-4pm), and an Experimental painting workshop on 21 July (10.30-11.30am, material included, beginners welcome). Register on her website to participate, as numbers are limited due to space constraints.
