The Changelings is an existential coming-of-age quest about Christianity, bisexuality and becoming your mother – three issues that monologuing frontwoman, Charlotte Salusinszky, tried to keep separate. That is, until one fateful viewing of the film, ‘Freaky Friday’.
Part-concert, part-sermon, with a live score by Bonnie Stewart and Micaela Ellis, The Changelings is a genre-bending performance about a longing for the fairy realm that never went away.
Premiering and commissioned as part of PACT's mainstage program, The Changelings follows on from Saluszinky's "rigorous and fearless" (Kevin Jackson) debut at KXT in 2022 and will speak to anyone who has had to leave people or communities to redefine themselves anew.
