Oil painting masterclass with Sally Ryan

In this masterclass with Sally Ryan, you will use the alla prima method of painting where oil paint is applied wet on wet without letting earlier layers dry. Working with a live model, you will learn how to express the character of the sitter through careful observation and explore concepts such as design, proportion, value and colour. 

Sally Ryan is a realist painter based in Sydney, whose practice encompasses various genres of painting including still life, interiors, portraiture and figurative. She was an Archibald Prize finalist in 2013 and 2023 and has works in private collections, the Parliament of Victoria, the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney and universities and schools in Australia.

This workshop is suitable for people with prior drawing and painting experience wishing to extend their skills and practice.
