Join us for a hand-sewing thread and mend workshop to mark National Recycling Week at the makerspace in Darling Square Library.

This 2-hour beginner workshop is perfect for young people aged 12 and up, along with a friend, parent, grandparent or guardian. Bring your favourite clothing items that need some love—whether it’s a beloved shirt or a pair of jeans—and we’ll guide you through the repair process.

During the workshop, you'll learn basic backstitch techniques for fixing holes, seams and rips, as well as how to hem with invisible stitches, sew on buttons and practise visible mending.

This is a great opportunity to refresh your wardrobe while making a positive impact on the environment.

Tackle the issues of fast fashion and pick up useful skills in a relaxed atmosphere. Book your spot today and transform your wardrobe together!

What to bring:

Don’t forget to bring your clothing items in need of care. All other materials will be provided.

Who for:

Young people aged 12 and older. We encourage you to bring along a friend, parent, grandparent or guardian.

If you need assistance, please contact us before the workshop on 02 9265 9333 or pinestreet@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au.
