Sunday 8 May 2022 from 11am to 3pm
The Australian Yiu Ming Hung Fook Tong Society located in south of Sydney CBD, is one of the nine Chinese style temple in Australia, stood quietly and outstandingly within the concrete jungle of Sydney.
The temple is of historical, architectural, religious and social significance to a section of Sydney's Chinese community. The Yiu Ming is one of the oldest and largest Chinese Societies. For approximately 130 years, the temple and its community and environment have provided practical assistance and spiritual support for community members seeking to establish themselves in Australia. Architecturally, the building is significant for its blending of traditional design, local materials and Federation detailing. The building has not been significantly modified since construction. The most significant modifications, following recent fire damage, replicated original form and materials as much as possible. The elaborate fittings of the temple provide evidence of community commitment to the temple and also demonstrate the skill of Chinese artisans at the beginning of the 20th century. As many village temples in China no longer exist, Historic Yiu Ming Temple is considered to be of both local and international significance.
After more than 100 years of continuous history, The Australian Yiu Ming Hung Fook Tong Society has more than 10,000 members. They have kept spiritual and religious practices alive as they were practiced by the Chinese diaspora over a century ago.
Since the 1980s, the Society has donated more than 10 million RMB to support the construction of Gaoyao, Guangdong. Such as infrastructures like The Huilong Huaqiao Primary School, The Qiaoguang Primary School, The Jiaotang Primary School, The Songtang Primary School, The Gaoyao Huilong Hospital and Nursing Home. And other civil affairs welfare systems, public facilities and environmental facilities such as town and village roads and archways and town and village water supply systems.
Million of families shine by light, thousand-mile where the good deeds flow.
