Mending and Upcycling Clothes for Beginners Course
1st Tuesday of each month, 7pm to 8pm Tuesday 30 January to Tuesday 5 November
In this live online class, we will be using clothing you already own, and with a bit of practice, you will be able to fix and upcycle almost anything!
For this class, you can use your clothing, hand-me-downs/ups/across, or just op-shop buys that need to be adjusted to fit better
Your teacher will guide you on using visible mending and simple hand stitching to repair your clothing so they will have a new lease of life. Some of the methods you will learn are Boro Stitching (running stitch), slip stitching, patching, and reinforcing with fabric. We will also look at dyeing and over-dyeing as methods to upcycle clothing.
As well as all of the above, you will learn simple embroidery stitches to embellish your repairs to make the finished pieces unique.
