Discover how François Truffaut grew from a rebellious critic to one of the seminal figures of the French New Wave. His body of work, cut short by his early death, may traverse all manner of genre and tone – film noir, sci-fi, romantic comedy, period drama – but always seeks the truth of the human condition
CJ Johnson is a film critic and commentator with ABC Radio, including Mornings with Sarah Macdonald, Evenings with Indira Naidoo and Nightlife with Suzanne Hill. He is the president of the Film Critics Circle of Australia, head lecturer in screen storytelling and cinema studies at Sydney Film School, and a voter for the Golden Globes. In 2023, he presented the Art of cinema lecture series at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Each lecture will be held on Friday and repeated on Saturday in the Domain Theatre. Each session includes a 15-minute intermission, during which tea and coffee will be provided in the Domain Theatre foyer.
