Saturday 27 May 2023 from 3pm to 5pm

The Ritz Cinema Randwick willl be joined by Philippe Petit for a live Q&A following the screening of the Oscar-winning documentary Man on Wire, which chronicles the preparations for his illegal walk between the twin towers in New York City, which has been described as the “artistic crime of the century.”

Widely known as ‘the Blondin of his generation’, Philippe first came to notice with his high-wire walk between the twin towers of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, and later for his walk between the twin towers of the World Trade Centre in New York.

Philippe visited Australia for the 1973 Nimbin Aquarius Festival, celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year. Before his departure he walked between the pylons of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, a feat which Sydney artist Martin Sharp described as "the spirit of Nimbin conquers the symbol of the Industrial Revolution"
