Make your own fragrance: perfume workshop
2nd Saturday of each month, 9:45am to 11:45am Saturday 8 October 2022 to Saturday 10 December 2022
In this fun and relaxed workshop in Lilyfield, you'll get to make an Eau de toilette (EDT) perfume.
During the workshop, which is suitable for both genders, you will blend fragrances such as musk, Neroli, Jasmine, Bergamot, lily of the vally, cedarwood, Frangipani, and more. Play with different combinations and embark on a mesmerising journey of discovery, where the destination is a perfume that you'll love, perhaps one that you might say is an extension of yourself - your scent!
We will begin the workshop with a brief history of perfume, and learn about our sense of smell, and its intimate connection with emotions and memory. We'll discuss how perfume is layered using fragrance that evaporates at different rates, and you'll learn handy tips on perfume making.
As you start to make your perfume, we will begin with the base note. This is an oil so we will need to add alcohol to help propel the base along with the rest of the perfume. You will have a choice 0f Sandalwood, Lily of the valley, Vanilla and Musk, with eight to 10 different bases.
In the next step, you can choose from the same spectrum of fragrances used by the major perfume houses. You can add some heart notes or top notes. All you need to concentrate on the perfume in your bottle and blend them until you have a perfume close to your heart.
The fragrances will layer themselves out to produce the top notes, the heart notes and the base notes.
Within each addition to your perfume, you'll get to choose from lots of different fragrances, and you'll have plenty of time to smell them all, to find and test the ingredients and blend that appeals most to you.
Your teacher Joseph will give you one-on-one feedback and will assist you to balance and fine-tune your creation if you like, but otherwise, you'll be free to explore and let your creativity run wild.
At the end of this workshop, you'll take home two 30ml bottles of perfume completely customised by you! Perfect as a heartfelt and unique gift, for someone special (or for yourself).
