When

Wednesday 14 February 2024 from 7pm to 9pm

As part of the Year of the Dragon celebrations, join internationally renowned Chinese-Australian Cellist Li-Wei Qin and acclaimed violinist Harmonnia Junus, and the Odyssey Symphony Orchestra as they perform Legends & Lanterns a musical fusion of East meets West.

Under the baton of Hong Kong-born Briton and Musical Director of Australian Ballet Jonathon Lo, the Legends & Lanterns program showcases much-loved pieces from the classical Chinese repertoire including the Spring Festival Overture, Galloping Horses, as well as a special abridged version of Butterfly Lovers’ Violin Concerto for Violin and Erhu, featuring Harmonnia Junus and Fuhua Li.  These pieces will be complemented by a selection of Western works including masterpieces by Brahms and Strauss and featuring the dynamic talent of Li-Wei Qin playing Saint Saen’s Cello Concerto, it is the ultimate show of supreme skill and orchestra artistry.

Legend & Lanterns will lift the spirits as it explores the richness of Eastern and Western musical cultures through energetic large-scale orchestral works, along with exquisite moments of interpretation in this joyful live experience.
