Kino! contemporary movie night is part of our monthly movie screenings at Estonian House, held on the first Sunday of every month.
Screening contemporary short films and feature films that have emerged from Estonia since 1991, coinciding with the restoration of Estonian Independence, the films shown focus on the power of the moving image in telling compelling and absorbing stories of the human condition.
We aim to showcase a range of voices and languages from our Estonian and broader Finno-Ugric community. Our kino! program seeks to create a fun and engaging platform for people to engage with Estonian film and enjoy the company and thoughts of others.
Each screening will run from 5pm on the first Sunday of the month, with films starting around 5.30pm. Estonian feature films made since 1991 are screened alongside a contemporary or older related short exploring and expanding on a theme or idea drawn from the feature film.
Tickets can be pre-purchased on TryBooking or at the bar on the night. The bar will be open with Estonian-style toasties available for purchase. Individual screening details will be released with each incoming kino! on our website and TryBooking event page.
All films are subtitled in English. As a non-profit community organisation run by volunteers all proceeds of from this event go directly back into our community to help support our cultural activities for the next generation of Estonians.
