About Joshua Han

Australian pianist Joshua Han has been praised for “complete mastery of his instrument as well as complete empathy with the music” (Sydney Arts Guide). Joshua has received international recognition and appeared with distinguished orchestras including the Queensland Symphony, Sendai Philharmonic (Japan) and Suwon Philharmonic (South Korea).

A prizewinner at major international competitions, Joshua won First Prizes at the 2025 International Piano Competition J. S. Bach in Saarbrücken, Germany, and the 2024 Australian National Piano Award, where he also received the Audience Prize and additional awards for best interpretation of Bach, Chopin, and Beethoven. Joshua’s 2025–26 season includes engagements with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Harbour Ensemble, Canberra International Music Festival, Albury Chamber Music Festival, and Shepparton Arts Festival. In April 2026, he stepped in at short notice for Alexander Gavrylyuk, performing Strauss’ Burleske with Fabian Russell and The Orchestra Project.

Born in 2002, Joshua began piano studies aged four with his mother. He showed early promise with a Licentiate of Music (LMusA) at age 10 and Fellowship Recital Diploma (FTCL) at age 14, and first prizes at the 2014 Ettlingen International Piano Competition, Germany, and the 2015 Aarhus International Piano Competition, Denmark. Joshua currently studies a Master of Music Studies (Performance) under Dr Paul Rickard-Ford at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He is a current grant recipient of the Theme and Variations Foundation and Cope-Williams Arts Foundation.
