Born and raised in Rome, Carlotta Centanni carries the soul of Italian music in her DNA.
Her musical journey was ignited by a family steeped in artistic tradition – her mother, a captivating Neapolitan actress; her father, a makeup artist of cinema and TV for stars like Mina, Ornella Vanoni, and Raffaella Carrà; and her grandfather Armandino, a celebrated singer/songwriter who shared the stage with the legendary Renato Carosone during La Dolce Vita.
Carlotta’s professional debut in 2001 marked the beginning of her becoming a popular fixture on the Rome music scene at prestigious venues such as La Palma Jazz and the historic Villa Celimontana, and performing her original compositions on coveted spots on RAI television.
In 2008, after crafting her debut album “Respiro” with Stefano Malatesta, Carlotta migrated to Sydney, where she has brought her authentic Italian sound to some of Australia’s most iconic music venues; including Foundry616, Venue505, the Basement, Camelot Lounge, the Vanguard, and Sydney Opera House. Her recent performances at Cardea and Camelot Lounge have captivated audiences with her signature warmth and storytelling prowess.
In 2017 Carlotta was the singing voice of ‘Bridget’ for the Italian release of Hollywood blockbuster “Trolls”. And, with four critically acclaimed albums to her name: “Respiro”, “Rome to the Land of Australia”, “Speak Love”, and “Napoli, Resta Cu’Mme”, Carlotta continues to honour her Italian heritage.
Returning to Camelot Lounge for a special evening of Italian magic, Carlotta will transport audiences through the golden age of 1960s Italian music, the poetic beauty of canzoni d’autore, and the soul-stirring melodies of her beloved Neapolitan songs. Every note reveals her heritage, every phrase tells a story, and every performance is a celebration of the music that flows through her veins.
She will be performing on stage accompanied by Nick Southcott on piano, Mark Howard on double bass and Tim Bradley on drums.
Included in her repertoire there will be some of her favourite originals from her albums, and some of the best jazz and Latin jazz tunes.
