This event is presented entirely in English.

Artist Basia Zielinska invites participants to her studio to create their own floral painting. Participants will be working on a 20 x 16 inch canvas and will be working on table easels.

In this workshop participants will be taught how to make an interesting, layered background, using her special “wipe back” method of “finding shapes.” Basia will talk briefly about the colour wheel and will be recommending colour palettes which work well together. She will demonstrate a range of mark-making which could be included and again, some participants may already have their own visual handwriting.

ABOUT BASIA ZIELINSKA

Basia Zielinska is an abstract artist, responding intuitively and emotionally, in a stream of consciousness, to fragments of memories and fleeting images of her internal and external landscape. Basia does not respond specifically to a place but paints in response to a collective memory of places. Basia’s paintings are multi-layered and are rich in her unique mark making visual language. Basia was a finalist in the North Sydney Art Prize, the Hunters Hill Art Prize, the Fischer’s Ghost Art Prize, and the Mosman Friends Exhibition. She won The Friends Choice Award at the Friends of Campbelltown exhibition. In 2017, Basia held her first solo exhibition at the ME Art Gallery, St Leonards, and has since had a solo exhibition at the Polish Consulate in Sydney, at the Polish Community Centre in Newcastle, and at Transit Art Space with North Sydney Council. Basia was an Artist in Residence at the North Sydney Council initiative, the experience enriched her art practice. Basia loves to share her art knowledge by teaching children and adult workshops.
