Sunday 20 August 2023 from 3pm to 4pm
The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research is an organisation that preserves, studies, and teaches the cultural history of Jewish life throughout Eastern Europe, Germany, and Russia.
In January 2022, YIVO completed a seven-year initiative to digitise materials collected before WWII which had been looted by the Nazis. Now located at YIVO in New York and three Lithuanian institutions, what remains of YIVO’s pre-war collection has been reunited virtually.
Join Director of the YIVO Archives, Stefanie Halpern, live in the Museum as she explains the history of YIVO, its pre-war collections, and the technologies used to digitise them, as well as some of the highlights from the newly digitised materials, and how you can find and access these materials online.
This talk is in partnership with Sydney University Department of Hebrew, Jewish and Biblical Studies, Mandelbaum House and Monash University.
Sydney Jewish Museum Members with valid access codes can access this webinar for free. Non-members can access this event for $15.
