Free electronics recycling drop off

Do you have unused or old electronics taking up space?

Want to save them from landfill?

Drop them off at The Bower Summer Hill for free recycling and recovery any Wednesday between 2-6pm AND ALSO Sunday 20th October 10am - 1pm!

Our partner Whirl Recycling will divert 100% of your electronics from landfill.

The Bower is located in the Inner West Sustainability Hub, 7 Prospect Rd, Summer Hill (the ex-drive-through Covid testing clinic)

To save disappointment, please note items we CAN'T accept:

  • bigger items: whitegoods, microwaves, TVs, printers, gas or oil heaters

  • smaller items: light globes/fluros, batteries, CDs/DVDs/cassettes

  • potentially dangerous items: CRT monitors, electric blankets, smoke alarms, air fryers

 Items we CAN accept hHousehold electronics (items that have a power cord or use battery power) such as;

  • mobile phones

  • laptops

  • tablets, iPads & e-readers

  • cameras, lenses & accessories

  • gaming consoles & computer games

  • vintage electronics, ex. landline phones, radios, computers etc

  • computer servers, switches, components & hardware

  • modems & routers

  • iMacs & PCs

  • iPods & mp3 players

  • computer games

  • cords, power boards & cables

  • stereos, record players, radios & amplifiers

  • DVD, CD & Blu-ray players

  • keyboards (computer & musical)

  • hard drives & CD/DVD drives

  • computer peripherals (mice, keyboards, fans etc)

  • vacuums and stick vacuums

  • fans & pedestal fans

  • kitchen appliances (coffee machines, blenders, toasters etc)

  • power tools

Important notes

Drop off is strictly Wednesday afternoons between 2pm-6pm. Please do not drop off items before or after these times.

Please bring items loose or in a container or bag we can empty & return to you. We are unable to accept packaging, cardboard boxes, plastic bags etc.

 If you want to ensure your device can be reused, please hard reset or remove your account / profile from mobiles, tablets & laptops. Locked or smashed devices cannot be reused, only recycled.

Whirl Recycling ensure all data is securely wiped from any devices.

Onsite parking is for drop & go only, with a limit of 10 minutes. Please enter the Hub slowly and follow signage.

 Help our volunteers by wiping down any mouldy or sticky items & removing batteries before dropping off.

Our weekly Wednesday electronics recycling drop off is open to all Sydney communities
