David Marr talks with Lorena Allam | Killing for Country

Where
26C Mansfield St
Rozelle NSW 2039
Australia
When

Wednesday 18 October 2023 from 7pm to 8:30pm

Cost

General: $24.49

‘This book is more than a personal reckoning with Marr's forebears and their crimes. It is an account of an Australian war fought here in our own country, with names, dates, crimes, body counts and the ghastly, remorseless views of the 'settlers'. Thank you, David.’ — Marcia Langton

Renowned Australian journalist and social commentator David Marr was shocked to discover forebears who served with the brutal Native Police in the bloodiest years on the frontier. Killing for Country is the result – a soul-searching Australian history.

On Wednesday 18 October at White Bay Beer Co, hear Marr talk about the book with Lorena Allam, the Indigenous Affairs Editor for Guardian Australia.

Copies of Killing for Country (out 3 October, Black Inc Books) will be available for purchase at the venue through Roaring Stories, with Marr signing copies after the discussion.

This event is likely to sell out fast, so be sure to book quick!

Attendees are asked to arrive at 6:30pm or earlier for a 7pm start at White Bay Beer Co. Seating is unallocated – another reason to arrive early to secure an optimal spot!

The bar opens 6pm and closes at 9:30pm on the night of the event. Settle in and grab a drink before or after, with an incredible range of locally brewed beers and other beverages to enjoy. There’ll be plenty of delicious food available too thanks to a special event caterer, so why not make a full evening of it and come for dinner too? You can order before or after the event.

If you miss out on a ticket, you can still watch the event as it is livestreamed from the Roaring Stories Facebook page (accessible on the home page and from the live tab). A recording will also be available to view later as an upload on the Roaring Stories YouTube channel.
