"The paintings in this exhibition are the culmination of extensive field visits, including the Daintree and Dorrigo Rainforests. During these excursions, I engage in on-site sketching and capture photographs that serve as reference points when immediate drawing is not practical. This intimate process of becoming increasingly familiar with each location is vital , allowing me to connect beyond the literal, and more deeply with the natural environment.
I aspire to evoke a profound sensory response that captures the essence of being immersed in the landscape. This exploration frequently results in distorted horizons and a deliberate emphasis on simplification, both of which mirror the nature of memory and perception."
