Damon Poppleton Quartet at Church Street Studios

The Damon Poppleton Quartet features Damon Poppleton on alto saxophone/compositions, Thomas Odell on piano, Sabine Tapia on bass and Elliott Carter on drums.
The band showcases his personal connection to the jazz tradition; deeply inspired and informed by the values of swing presented by Count Basie, and drawn to the artistry of current saxophonists like Dick Oatts and Jaleel Shaw.
The quartet's debut album, Substation Lookout (April 2024), featuring Damon's original compositions, received 4.5 stars from Barry O’Sullivan (Fine Music Magazine), who praised it as “a handsome debut recording with some stellar moments displaying their obvious talent and premature sophistication.”
This performance at Church Street Studios will be a showcase for the new compositions Damon has been writing, as well as some favourites from years past!
