City of Sydney Library is celebrating Children’s Book Week in 2021 with a great line-up of online book readings and activities.

The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) brings children and books together each year for Children’s Book Week. Book Week recognises the work of quality Australian authors and illustrators.

Join City of Sydney Librarians live online for this special reading of a book from the Children's Book Council Australia shortlist.

This free fun session of singing, learning and storytelling for children ages 3-5 and will be delivered live on ZOOM. Book to receive the Zoom link.

Monday 23 August, 11am-11.30am - Book

Wednesday 25 August, 2pm-2.30pm - Book

Friday 27 August, 11am-11.30am - Book

If you’re a City of Sydney Library member you can borrow or read CBCA shortlisted titles for Book of the Year in our collection. Search the online catalogue to download the eBook or eAudio book.

Members can also listen to the shortlisted books read by well-known Australian storytellers on Story Box Library and access lots of fun activities. Login using your library membership number.

There are also some great activities available from CBCA for you to do with your kids at home. Create prehistoric or feathered friend bookmarks and draw or colour in your own curious creatures.

Not already a City of Sydney Library member? We’ve introduced temporary online memberships for City of Sydney residents and ratepayers living in NSW, allowing you to join our library without visiting a branch.
