Breathing Life brings together three Sydney artists – Rachel Carroll, Deanne Palmer, and Holly Mahoney. Working across painting, works on paper and sculpture, each draws inspiration from the natural world and our connection to it.
The title, Breathing Life, gestures toward both creation and vitality, while evoking the life sustaining rhythms of the natural world. Trees produce the oxygen we breathe, while oceans absorb carbon through vast interconnected cycles of exchange. Forests and oceans work together as the lungs of our planet, a reminder that to breathe is to exist in relationship with the environment around us.
Using diverse materials and processes, the artists bring form to lived encounters with land and sea, atmosphere, texture and place. Their works reflect the enduring presence of the natural world as a source of inspiration, memory, connection and renewal. Together the exhibition celebrates interdependence, care and the joy found in connecting with the rhythms and breath of the natural world.
Celebratory drinks 6–8pm Friday 11 September.
