Saturday 5 April from 7pm to 9:30pm
Kat, Lou, and Meggie are Bower. With their roots in classical music, they built their Bower from a shared love of blending vocal harmonies, authentic songwriting and folk sensibilities, driven by a cosmic and comforting blend of female voices. Let them carry you home on thoughtful three-part harmonies, original tunes and unexpected arrangements of songs old and new.
“Bower’s harmonies are a thing of beauty on their own, but overlaid on top of a mix of covers and their own work, it gets awfully close to magic.” – The Underground Stage
Join us in the 5th of April to celebrate the release of our debut EP, we are bower!
Opening the night will be Runa Cara: a partnership between Irish-Australian percussionist and new edge folk-pop singer-songwriter Bonnie Stewart and Danish-Australian contemporary cellist and nyckelharpist Freya Schack-Arnott. Drawing from their culturally diverse roots and mix of classical, folk and improvised musical practises, Runa Cara present imaginative Irish and Scandinavian folk songs, interwoven with experimental soundscapes and original songs.
Featuring the traditional Swedish instrument, the nyckelharpa, the duo transports the listener on a journey of new and old, from the dulcet tones of a Danish lullaby to the toe-tapping spoons of an Irish reel!
“Runa Cara…filled a hushed Utzon Room with music of ethereal beauty.” – Sydney Morning Herald
