Botanical Patterns & Visual Poetry - A one day workshop where art & writing intertwine to form stunning botanical artworks on a recycled materiality.
In the course of the day, participants will develop drawing & painting skills working directly from the beauty of flowers, seed pods and the like. We will consider the Conceptual potential for the project through the lens of sustainability, William Morris and using recycled paper shopping bags as the muse and foundation for unique expression and individual creations.

About Julie and Joanna
Julie & Joanna will guide the class collaboratively. Both are currently working from the same Art studio community in Alexandria, Sydney, having met during a Masters of Art at UNSW.
JULIE PARKIN is a multidisciplinary artist who works across painting, textiles, digital art and writing. Julie's practice is playful and experimental and based on themes concerned with everyday life. In 2019 Julie and her partner established Mounted Ari, an artist’s run initiative that utilises a domestic-based gallery space to develop and exhibit contemporary art and literary projects.
JOANNA COLE is an Australian born visual artist based in Gadigal Country, New South Wales, Australia. Cole paints the human condition through the lens of the landscape. She has a meditative and responsive practice revelling in themes from Road Trips, to Belonging & Yearning to Awe and Wonder. She is a finalist in several local art prizes including the Waverley Art Prize, North Sydney Art Prize and NSW Parliament en plein air Art Prize.
