When

Thursday 19 September from 2pm to 3pm

From the Sydney Exhibition to modern-day fashion, Australian flora has had a lasting artistic and cultural impact.

Join Powerhouse volunteers for an enchanting journey through the Powerhouse collection, exploring the captivating influence of Australian flora in art and design. Learn about the rich history behind these pieces and how they’ve continued to inspire creativity through the decades.

We’ll also be joined by City of Sydney curator Margaret Betteridge, who will introduce us to the work of Lucien Henry and the beginnings of Australian flora in art and design, highlighting objects in the civic collection.

Image: Bookplate design entitled 'Wrought Iron and Enamelled Bronze Gate' from unpublished book, 'Australian Decorative Arts'. Made by Lucien Henry, Australia / France, 1889-1891. Gift of Mrs Margaret See, 1977.
