Artist talk with Dennis Golding at the Museum of Sydney

Where
Museum of Sydney
Museum of Sydney
Cnr Phillip and Bridge Streets , Sydney NSW 2000
When

Saturday 15 June from 2:30pm to 3:30pm

Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay artist Dennis Golding joins Museums of History NSW Curator Dr Jacqui Newling for a thoughtful discussion about memory, making and practice.

The talk will offer a deep dive into the development and creation of Golding’s multifaceted artwork Cast in cast out, currently on display at the Museum of Sydney, and provide a special opportunity for the audience to connect with the artist and curator.

Cast in cast out is inspired by artist Dennis Golding’s experiences and childhood memories of growing up in ‘The Block’, an Aboriginal community in the inner Sydney suburb of Redfern. The artwork ‘recasts’ Victorian-era ironwork panels – a distinctive feature of many 19th-century houses in Redfern – as contemporary expressions of power and ownership.
