Learn about materiality in printmaking at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia from exhibiting Biennale of Sydney artist Kirtika Kain.

Drawing inspiration from her family archives and Dalit literature, Kain uses diverse alchemical and experimental printmaking processes to transform everyday materials into aesthetic objects of value. In this masterclass, Kain will take participants through her approach to printmaking and facilitate practical experimentation with monotyping and stencilling.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own archival images.

About Kirtika Kain

Kirtika Kain is a Delhi-born Australian artist working on Dharug land. Incorporating a range of humble materials, Kain's visual representations tell a story of personal and collective histories, reflecting on the vastness and dimensionality of Dalit being.

About Artist Sessions

Artist Sessions engage contemporary artists whose practices connect to current exhibitions. Designed for people with a creative practice, sessions offer insight into the artist's process and provide opportunities for experimentation and exchange.
