The now fashionable art deco flat was once considered a dire peril, with famous war correspondent Charles Bean even describing it as a threat to the ANZAC spirit.

Today, art deco buildings are some of our most sought after, contributing to Bondi’s unique identity. But have you ever wondered about how Bondi became to be a hub of the art deco movement?

As a part of Souter’s Bondi in the Bondi Pavilion Art Gallery, join the Waverley Action Group as we explore Bondi of the inter war period and what circumstances lead it to become a base for some of our countries most recognisable art deco streets and buildings.
