Friday 14 February 2020 from 9:30am to 3:30pm
This full day training is an engaging and interactive program designed to develop literacy, empathy, and understanding of race related issues and identities.
The training equips you with the skills for affective allyship in the fight for racial justice.
Across the 2 half-day sessions: we use group work, role play, facilitated discussion and personal reflection, to have real conversations about race and racism and develop capacity for allyship, accountability and empowered change.
In the first session, we explore a range of race related issues and concepts to develop a sharper awareness of racism, and in a day to day setting. In the second session we develop skills and strategies to become up-standers, rather than by-standers when we see racism at play.
The sessions are strengths-based, designed for a range of knowledge and experience levels, and use peer-to-peer learning frameworks, to develop understanding and skills together.
(Note: Organisations that provide services to City of Sydney will have a priority to attend this training. Each organisation will be limited to 2 tickets each).
