A bewitching new jazz star
An unmissable new jazz star, Alma Zygier’s voice is a soaring, feel-it-in-your-bones mix of raw emotion, velvety nuance and bold gravelly chutzpah that wraps itself around songs with spellbinding ease.
Accompanied by a live band, the daughter of Australian music legends Deborah Conway and Willy Zygier will redefine songs made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, Bessie Smith, Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday, breathing new life into the work of composers George Gershwin, Jerome Kern and Cole Porter.
With talent beyond her years, Zygier returns to Sydney Festival after sell-out shows at the Brett Whiteley Studio Sessions in 2023.
Witness a dazzling jazz performer as she brings her American songbook repertoire into the 21st century with a bewitching power and fragility.
