Joel Cunningham, Jane Noel and Julie Cunningham present mixed work in “All The Wonders”, open from Thursday 23 November to Wednesday 29 November, 11am to 6pm. The official opening is on Saturday, 25 November at 2pm. All welcome.
Joel presents a new suite of embroidered works: underwater scenes, Australian & European landscapes. These crafted pieces contrast with experimental scenes of Balmoral and Depot beach, watercolours immersed in the ocean then covered in sand, repeatedly, for surprising effect. Other mixed media works depict Murramarang National Park, various Octopi species and more of his well-loved birds-as-characters series.
Jane is exhibiting costume textiles responding in part, to Joel’s Balmoral experiments. These works take many hours, being handcrafted, collaged, embroidered, and painted. She is also showing three suites of small abstract acrylic works.
Julie is showing mixed media and mixed focus works. In a small suite of paintings in oils and acrylics she elevates and celebrates insects, not only the vital, pollinators, but others, as the insect crisis is little spoken of. Living in the Shoalhaven Julie has also created unique 3D characters responding to the forms of sponges, driftwood, and shell she’s found. Julie’s work is animated by both, the surreal and the real.
