All roads lead home is a series taken during a road trip across Zimbabwe in late 2024 – the fifteen year anniversary of my emigration to Australia.

I realised that I was leaving home to go home. To see relatives, to explore new parts of the country that I left as a child, to return. This transnational back and forth will repeat throughout my life. My feet stand at once in two worlds, each with its own colonial legacy.

Paul Pinga Matereke (born 1994, Zimbabwe). Paul is a contemporary photographer and filmmaker based in Sydney. He chronicles the nuances of daily life by photographing the city streets in search of poetic imagery hidden in plain sight. Paul’s commitment to his craft also extends to the meticulous process of developing black and white negatives and producing darkroom prints. His film work has been commissioned by Runway Journal, Antenna Documentary Film Festival, Flickerfest Film Festival and exhibited at Alpha House Gallery.
