Friday 25 July from 7:30pm to 9pm
Alex Richo is a producer, sound engineer and multi-instrumentalist whose music is shaped by a life lived across continents and cultures. With a deep curiosity and an ear tuned to the stories of the world, Alex captures his experiences the way he knows best – through sound.
Life Times, his long-awaited debut EP, is a genre-blurring journey through Brazilian grooves, West African instrumentation, bluesy moods, RnB ballads, jazz traditions and hip hop grit. The EP features over 20 world-class musicians, including Grammy-nominated Malian guitarist Moussa Diakite, ARIA Award-winning bassist and APRA AMCOS board member Jonathan Zwartz, Julian Belbachir, known for his work across African and Middle Eastern percussion traditions, and Jessica Madhu, a rising voice in Australian soul and jazz. More special guests will be revealed live on the night.
The title nods to the many chapters of Alex’s life – moments lived and stories gathered, woven into melody and rhythm. Almost entirely written, recorded, mixed and produced by Alex himself, Life Times is a showcase of both sonic detail and personal storytelling.
The lead single, Será Que Eu Vou, featuring Madhu and Diakite, captures the emotional pull of distance – navigating life between cultures and longing for home.
For this intimate live launch, Alex is joined by an all-star band, including Jonathan Zwartz on bass, Ollie McGill – keyboardist for The Cat Empire – on piano, and Pete Skelton (James Morrison, Kate Ceberano) on drums, with featured appearances from Moussa Diakite and Jessica Madhu.
Join us Thursday 25 July at Church St Studios in Camperdown for an evening show at 7:30pm. A night of deep grooves, global stories, and unforgettable musicianship awaits.
