FUSE Glass Prize, produced by JamFactory and presented by Australian Design Centre is a non-acquisitive biennial prize for glass artists. Established in 2016, the FUSE Glass Prize celebrates and supports outstanding glass artists. In its 2024 iteration, the FUSE Glass Prize showcases 18 finalists across Australia and New Zealand.

The winner of the 2024 FUSE Glass Prize is South Australian-based glass artist Tom Moore for his work Dandy Lion among the Antipodes (Handsome Duckling, Sweet Boots, Quadravian Cyclops, Dandy Lion & Kohl Canary), 2022 & 2023.

The David Henshall Emerging Artist Prize was awarded to Emeirely Nucifora-Ryan for her entry Processed, July 2023, 2023.

Out of Date

Artist and jeweller Zoe Brand presents a selection of works from the past decade. Using archetypal jewellery forms, ready-made objects and text Zoe explores the act of wearing jewellery as both a performance and method of communication, taking a wry and humorous approach to what it means to be ‘out of date’. While the works are not only literally out of date, they were also made in response to ideas and moments once considered relevant. In this exhibition Zoe’s materials include European parquetry, fake marble paint, modified shop fittings, gold and a glass tabletop found at the tip shop.

In the second iteration of Remade-Reloved at Australian Design Centre, thirteen makers have repurposed costume jewellery donated by the public and other found objects into new pieces. They convert the discarded and unloved into the precious, using less to create more.

Curated by Bridget Kennedy, this exhibition celebrates the opportunity for renewal. In creatively and actively repurposing, the makers present us with ways of writing new narratives and reassessing our meaning of precious.
