Join us for an informative session in the Makerspace where you'll explore and learn about assistive tools and technology.

Discover online resources and designs that empower individuals and make everyday tasks more manageable. Watch as our 3D printer creates assistive devices that support greater independence in daily life.

The designs we’ll explore were created by Neil Squire /Makers Making Change, dedicated to enhancing accessibility through technology.

This free workshop is open to all skill levels, whether you're seeking knowledge, inspiration, or to explore new tools. Participants will be introduced to online resources featuring open-source designs and offering a variety of assistive tools and devices. It’s a great way to learn new skills while discovering how technology can be used to create solutions that assist everyday life.

You can view our Assistive Devices Kit at Ultimo Community Centre, Surry Hills Library, and the Makerspace at Darling Square Library.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to access free online resources

  • Introduction to open access 3D design software

  • Basic file prep for 3D printing

  • Introduction to 3D printing with the Bambu X1

What you’ll take home:

  • 1 x 3D printed assistive tool – bag carrier or jar opener

Details:

  • Free, bookings essential

  • Class size: limited to 15 people

  • Suitable for: ages 16 yrs+

  • Experience level: beginner workshop with no required knowledge

  • Wear: enclosed shoes and no loose-fitting clothing or jewellery
