Lose yourself in the delicate intensity of sound.

Join ZÖJ at Phoenix Central Park for a 50-minute deep listening experience that invites you into a heightened state of awareness. Known for their immersive and meditative performances, ZÖJ crafts an evolving sonic landscape where the edges between sound and silence dissolve.

Attuned to the moment, the music unfolds slowly and deliberately; drawing you in, asking you to listen deeply, and feel fully. This isn’t background music; it’s an invitation to be present.

Perfectly at home in the intimate, acoustically rich surrounds of Phoenix Central Park, this is a rare opportunity to experience ZÖJ’s subtle power up close.

———

ZÖJ is an experimental cross-cultural music duo from Australia, consisting of Gelareh Pour on kamancheh, voice, and qeychak, and Brian O’Dwyer on drumkit and percussion.

With a commitment to authentic intercultural expression, ZÖJ blends traditional elements from their respective backgrounds with contemporary experimental influences. Gelareh’s virtuosic string and vocal performances intertwine seamlessly with Brian’s dynamic drumming, resulting in a captivating and accessible sound.

ZÖJ is a fixture on the Australian festival scene, gracing stages at renowned events like WOMAD, Mona Foma, and The National Folk Festival. Their debut full-length album, ‘FIL O FENJOON,’ released to critical acclaim in November 2023, selling out all dates of the accompanying tour.

Their sophomore album Give Water To Birds (released June 2025 via Bleeemo Music and Parenthesis Records) features Brett Langsford on guitar and continues to expand the ZÖJ sound. Their innovative approach to contemporary art music has garnered acclaim, with Gelareh and Brian receiving the award for Excellence in Experimental Practice at the Art Music Awards - APRA AMCOS 2024 and nominated for Best Regional Act award at the Music Victoria Awards 2024. In 2022, ZÖJ was recognised for Performance of the Year in the jazz/improvised music category.

Doors open 30 minutes before advertised starting times.
