The mid-autumn Mooncake festival returns to World Square in Sydney this September, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy! Here’s your guide to everything that’s happening at The Square, so you can plan your visit and experience the magic.  

What to expect

From Tuesday 17th September to Sunday 29th September, World Square will be transformed into a cultural hub, featuring a captivating array of activities and entertainment. 

Enjoy live performances, including traditional lion dances, captivating music, and mesmerising art demonstrations. Plus, sit back and relax in the Square, and immerse yourself in the enchanting atmosphere with a specially curated outdoor cinema showcasing beloved Asian films! 

ENTERTAINMENT

LIVE MUSIC

Enjoy the sounds of traditional Asian instruments and contemporary music, including a traditional Ghu Zeng musican!

ART DEMONSTRATIONS

Witness the skill and artistry of local and international artists, including calligraphy and traditional Chinese face-changing artist performances. 

JUGGLERS

Marvel at the incredible feats of juggling and acrobatics, with Kenny the Juggler.

DANCE PERFORMANCES

Be mesmerised by the vibrant and lively performances our traditional Lion Dance and Chinese Dance troupes.

Film Festival

Step into the world of Asian cinema with a specially curated selection of movies, including beloved favourites like “Crazy Rich Asians,” the heartfelt South Korean drama “Broker,” the enchanting Chinese tale “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan,” the enlightening Bhutanese film “Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom,” and the timeless Japanese classic “My Neighbour Totoro.”  

This film festival presents an exciting opportunity to delve into the diverse stories and cultures of Asia while enjoying a cinematic experience in a welcoming community atmosphere.
