“Making peace with nature is the defining task of the 21st century.” - UN Secretary-General António Guterres

The United Nations Day Gala Dinner celebrates the formation, goals and contribution of the United Nations. It is the flagship annual social event of the UNAA (NSW) community, our donors and partners. As well as an important fundraising and giving opportunity, it is the occasion when the prestigious UN Day Honour is awarded to an individual or organisation who embodies UN values and priorities.

After 2 years of disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are delighted to invite you to join us again to celebrate UN Day. This year’s UN Day Gala Dinner marks the launch of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and the International Year of Basic Science for Sustainable Development, through the twin themes of STEM engagement and Ecosystem Restoration.

Previous UN Day Gala Dinners have featured distinguished guests including our Patron Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, the Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG, CEO of Reconciliation Australia, Karen Mundine, Government Ministers, along with eminent business and community leaders. We hope you will join us for a night of celebration, entertainment and positive impact.

Covid-safe information

Covid safety, it’s up to us

The COVID-19 pandemic is not over but the way we live with it is changing. Living with COVID-19 means understanding how we can lower the risk of catching and spreading the virus. The choices we make help protect ourselves, our loved ones and the community.

How you can help:

Remember to protect yourself. Carry a mask with you. Wear it indoors and when you can't physically distance outdoors. It is mandatory to wear a mask on public transport. Wash and sanitise your hands regularly and use sanitiser when out and about. Keep up your protection against COVID-19 by getting a booster vaccine if it’s been more than three months since your second COVID-19 vaccination dose and you’re aged 16 or over.

Reduce the risk of transmission by choosing outdoor venues or well-ventilated indoor venues when you can. Keep your distance from other people where possible and avoid sharing glasses and plates when getting together for a meal. Continue to check in and out, and show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, where required.

Limit the spread. Be alert for any COVID-19 symptoms – even if you are up to date with your vaccinations. If you have even one mild symptom of COVID-19, get tested immediately and self-isolate until you receive a negative test result.

It's up to all of us to stay COVID safe. For tips on living safely with COVID-19, visit
