These artists challenge themselves between risk and revelation, skating on thin ice, and into the fourth dimension, venturing into uncharted territories. Across the first three iterations of the Thin Ice exhibitions, beginning in 2013, they not only tested the boundaries of their practices, but also pushed themselves through collaborations. The exhibition became a shared laboratory for both uncertainty and a deliberate strategy.
The eight artists treat risk as a generative force and embrace vulnerability. Their works emerge from tensions between intention and accident, control and surrender, fragility and strength. By stepping beyond the comfort of the known, they allow intuition, chance, and exposure to shape the process. In this precarious state – in this condition of creating on “thin ice” – the artists find their practices in shifting yet vital equilibrium.
We believe that art has the capacity to reflect thoughts and emotions through channels that go above the literal. It can speak the unspoken through form, material, and abstraction, offering a language that resonates where words fall short.
