Join University of Sydney academic Dr Micah Goldwater for a fascinating and in-depth insight into the world of online conspiracy theories and the psychology of those who believe in them.

From Covid denialism to QAnon, outlandish conspiracies that appear completely beyond the realm of rationality and logic have thrived in recent years, generating vast online communities with millions of followers. But how to do these conspiracy theories work and, most importantly, what psychological and social processes drive people to passionately believe that they're true?

Cognitive scientist Dr Michah Goldwater, an expert in the psychology of belief systems, is better placed than anyone to grapple with these important questions. Join us for what promises to be a deeply engaging exploration of one of the most complex social trends of our era, followed by audience Q&A.
