According to the 1915 Residential Guide to Sydney and Suburbs, Kirribilli was:
“...a select rising suburb, situated on the Northern foreshores of Sydney Harbour. There are many handsome residences and fine streets – being of high elevation, it commands perfect views of the harbour.”
Kirribilli still retains many handsome residences and fine streets, along with intimate connections to the harbour. But it also contains a striking array of buildings constructed during the twentieth century, notably flats constructed during the interwar and post World War II eras.
The dramatic contrasts of architectural styles and scales, along with a lively commercial precinct, varied topography and fine street planting, combine to make this one of Sydney's most enjoyable suburban precincts.
This relaxing and informative walk will be led by Dr Roy Lumby.
Commences at 11am – meet at the eastern entry to Milsons Point Station
