The path to a greener future with Powerhouse

Where
Darling Square Library
Darling Square Library
Levels 1 and 2, The Exchange, 1 Little Pier Street, Haymarket NSW 2000
When

Thursday 27 March from 11am to 12pm

Join Powerhouse volunteers as we explore how innovation is driving a more sustainable future. While industrialisation fuelled pollution and climate change, modern technology is reshaping how we produce energy, travel and manage resources.

As we reflect on Earth Hour, observed on 22 March, this talk highlights the urgent need for climate action. Highlighting objects from the Powerhouse collection, we’ll trace the transition from coal to clean energy, the early rise of electric vehicles (first developed in 1891) and sustainability efforts like the Sydney 2000 Olympics waste management program.

Discover how past innovations inform today’s efforts to combat climate change and how small actions – like switching off the lights – can contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.

We aim to deliver inclusive and accessible events. If you have any particular access or communication needs please contact Olivia Kelly, Programs Coordinator on 02 9265 9789 or okelly@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au.
