What does it feel like to know you are dead?
Part poetry, part dance and part afterlife encounter, the alluring and unsettling images, music and words of Text Messages from the Universe will transport you through an afterlife encounter. Drawing inspiration from The Tibetan Book of the Dead, Richard James Allen reimagines Tibetan Buddhist teachings in a cinematic blend of poetry and dance, evoking a dislocated interval of consciousness, an intermediate state, between death and rebirth.
Coinciding with International Dance Day, the Fantastic Film Festival Australia and the Ritz Cinemas present the Sydney premiere of this multi-award-winning film in a unique, immersive gala screening event. In the classic silent film tradition of live accompaniment, the poetic ‘text messages’ will be read live by author and director Richard James Allen.
Every ticket purchased will include a complimentary copy of Richard's recently published, same-titled book, Text Messages from the Universe, encouraging attendees to indulge in a multisensory experience like no other.
All are welcome to attend the afterparty, where Richard will be signing books and chatting about his work.
