Hear Holocaust child survivor Litzi Lemberg tell of her stories of a past filled with pain and her ultimate healing.
Litzi was born in 1939 in Vienna, Austria. She was a baby when World War II broke out.
Litzi will talk about how as an adult she began to fully process her complicated past. As a lonely 15 year old, she began to rebel against her strict father and when emotions got the better of her and Litzi confronted her father. “I wish you weren’t my father”, she asserted. “I’m not”, he blurted out.
Litzi came to learn that her biological parents and brother had been murdered in the Holocaust, and the man who Litzi grew up understanding to be her father was in fact her uncle, who had found her name on the Red Cross list from Theresienstadt. Litzi was the sole survivor of her immediate family.
