Groovescooter‘s 3rd STROBE Music Film Festival is gets underway throughout May and June 2023 with some brand new documentaries on-screen for their Australian Premieres alongside a bunch of cult-classics retrospectives to celebrate significant anniversaries as well as what would have been music maestro Prince’s 65th birthday. All screenings at Golden Age Cinema + Bar, Surry Hills.

LEE FIELDS: FAITHFUL MAN Intimate new film about the Daptone artist and friend/labelmate of Sharon Jones. Fields is a funk and soul legend 50 years in the making.
CAN AND ME An expansive documentary about lone-surviving CAN member Irmin Schmidt and the legendary Krautrock band.
RONNIE’S Full of scintillating performances, a film about Ronnie Scott’s world-famous Soho Jazz Club & the man behind it.
PRINCE BIRTHDAY FILMS To celebrate what would have been PRINCE’s 65th birthday, STROBE presents 5 Prince-related films: his 1986 directorial debut Under The Cherry Moon, the classic Purple Rain, its sequel of sorts Graffiti Bridge, one of the greatest concert films ever made Sign O’ The Times & the Tim Burton-directed film that features Prince’s scandalous soundtrack Batman.
WILD STYLE 40TH ANNIVERSARY The 1983 cult classic returns. The first hip hop motion picture ever made is FULL of legends & amazing performances.
HEAD [The MONKEES] 55th ANNIVERSARY SCREENING The rarely-seen psychedelic, chaotic cult-classic, adventure-mystery-musical, docu-satire is back! Come on a whacked-out trip.
