2025 marks 35 years since Baz Luhrmann directed a watershed production of La Bohème presented by Opera Australia, setting the young director on a path to Hollywood.

Music of all genres has played a vital role in all his films, taking audiences deep into his stories.

Strictly Baz Luhrmann is a celebration of the music from Baz’s remarkable career alongside his longtime Oscar-winning collaborator Catherine Martin.

Join musical theatre stars Alinta Chidzey, Tim Draxl, Ryan Gonzalez and Phoebe Panaretos under the sails of the Sydney Opera House. Feel the full emotional sweep of these classic songs, performed live by the Opera Australia Orchestra conducted by Vanessa Scammell.

Hear highlights from Baz’s Red Curtain Trilogy: Strictly Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge!, as well as Australia, The Great Gatsby and Elvis.

Expect hits such as ‘Time After Time’, ‘Love is in the Air’, ‘Young Hearts Run Free’, ‘Come What May’, ‘One Day I’ll Fly Away’, ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ and many more.
