Simon Barker In Concert

Boom! International Festival of Percussion presents Simon Barker, one of Australia’s most brilliant, thoughtful, and musically adventurous drummers.

In this concert of solo works, Simon draws on his extensive experiences in Korea and how the fundamental principles he gained from that experience allowed him to develop a self-guided developmental practice.

Simon has also been mining concepts associated with the synthesising principles of barefoot running and how they interact, influence, and inform drumming fundamentals.

Furthermore, over the past five years Simon has been generating what he calls ‘rhythmic coils’, and so, all of these ideas, techniques, and concepts find their way into his performance, making for a wildly engaging, musically challenging, emotionally satisfying, and highly enjoyable concert experience.
